Are you short of staff?
It’s probably the #1 challenge for many small business owners right now.
You can’t grow without having staff.
You’ve got a lot of work on the books, and potentially a lot of profit to make. But if you’ve not got the staff, your sort of stuffed. Often this costs more than $2,000 in lost profits per person you’re understaffed. So it’s worthwhile fixing this.
What is important to realise is that another company is having the staff you are looking for. Besides the staff you’ve got, the people you want are working for someone else! We ‘just’ need to convince them to come and work for you!
That’s potentially a BFO- Blinding Flash of Obvious. However just because it’s obvious, does not mean that everyone is doing everything they could!
So that’s your opportunity. If you do a few steps more than your competition, you’re winning. Do quite a few more steps and you’ll be thriving!
It’s not just about finding the staff though! Once you attract them, you need to develop and retain them. That will stop the staff shortage.
The trick is to put it all together.
I’ve written a quick guide using the Staff Success Flywheel process. https://pages.loveyourbusiness.nz/staff-success
How does it work? The wheel is about figuring the areas to focus on. When I’m working with clients, we review and take action, improving the wheel so to speak. Then we review again and find the next area to work on.
Please feel free to use the guide as a checklist and to pick up some tips.
