“We were never that good at school. But one thing about us, as a family…. we are all good at making a decision. It might not always be the right one, but we make our mind up and go for it”. 

I caught up with a local farmer recently who I have known for some time. We had been talking about his sister, when he came up with the pearl of wisdom above.  The two of them are proudly part of a risk-taking, hard-working pioneering farming family from Taumarunui, in the heart of the King Country.

By chance I had met his sister a few months earlier, not knowing that they were related. She owns a successful business in the Waikato which she started after overcoming a lot of adversity and as a means of independence. 

We had been talking business growth and partnership, and I was very impressed with what she had achieved to date and the creativity that had been involved. She is definitely the sort of person I like to work with, enthusiasm, passion, drive.  Once we made the connection that she was part of that family, the shared traits were obvious.

Her brother had summed it up eloquently. His point was that making a decision and following through, is always better than milling around. 

Can you think of a time where you procrastinated about making a decision, or maybe you were waiting for more information or results to come back before you could?  How did you feel?  Frustrated, disempowered, confused, impatient, unable to move forward?

To get out of this place, you need to know yourself and your mindset.  You need to know how to get back into flow and how to remain empowered.  Everyone always feels much better after making a decision.
